Last night’s transmission was great. I loved that it was definitely one for me and my intimate friends. We gathered in a sweet and personal group and reveled in some music I’ve really needed to get out of me. I played a handful of new tracks, and a special handful of Sunday Soul classics. The idea was to map something, to trace a line between about four different sub themes, my various loves over the last half a decade, and whisper my secrets into the darkness of the night and then be quiet — letting the starlight shimmer across my face.
I left out a few songs on purpose. I played a few on purpose. I didn’t actually include anything which has been actually “written.” I wanted to create this map in real time, without a subtext or restriction of words. So I ended up speaking and singing more than I’d expected to — but somehow a lot less too.
It was a personal night in the chat. I loved how you responded to the basslines, and opened up with me. As if you were right here with me as I tried, in my way, to open myself gently enough to hold a little more love in my hands, welcome her, and then smile as I let it go.
